Lower Key Stage 2
In Lower Key Stage Two, children are encouraged to develop a greater independence in their work. They continue to learn through a series of creative cross-curricular learning themes which allow exploration of a range of subjects. Maths and English are taught each morning, with other subjects, including the core areas of science and computing, being covered in the afternoons. Children have 2 PE sessions weekly (including swimming in the Summer Term). They are given opportunities to work in groups, encouraging collaboration and compromise, as well as developing resilience and perseverance in individual tasks. Many opportunities are provided to extend learning by visiting the local area, welcoming visitors and, in year 4, partaking in a 3 night residential trip to Dorset.
