New Barn 'blog' - Day 2

Day 2 - New Barn

Up with the larks they were - so, plenty of time for play (and a room inspection) before a scrummy breakfast.  After a walk around the fields to meet some of the animals, we were introduced to Maximus Romanus Davidus.  Today was all about living like Romans (and a little Celtic knowledge too ): children experienced armour and weaponry; marching in formation; battle tactics; ground flour; made rosemary bread - cooked on an open fire; made mosaics and scribed on wax tablets.  Later on, we were enthrallled by tales of Boudicca and local Roman invasions. After a fantastic roast supper, it was time to make our own round houses (miniature!): great teamwork, fantastic sawing and good fun!  A final hot chocolate, showers and 32 tired children then tucked up in bed....  Hopefully the sparrows will be tweeting outside Mrs Coyle's room long before we hear a peep from them!   More tomorrow....
