Teacher Training at George Abbot School
George Abbot School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) is a highly respected and well established provider delivering school based Initial Teacher Training through Teach Surrey, an alliance of Outstanding Teaching Schools and their associated partner schools for both Primary and Secondary teaching, with the option to specialise in Special Needs.
With 18 years’ experience leading ITT, we offer practical training in a variety of schools with experienced practitioners to mentor you through the course. We have unrivalled experience in Surrey having trained over 600 teachers, many of whom are now in positions of responsibility.
We offer a flexible and personalised training programme, which is school centred training in Primary and Secondary through both the salaried and unsalaried routes. Our training programmes all have opt-in aspects which allow trainees to create a bespoke training experience to suit their future career aspirations.
All routes lead recommendation for the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Trainees also have the option to complete a PGCE which is equivalent to 60 credits at Masters level awarded by Kingston University and the opportunity to specialise in teaching children with Special Educational Needs in partnership with the SEND Teaching School.
We’re experts in our field. Our past trainees have rated the delivery of training across our partnership as exceptional. All trainees receive the same personalised training and support regardless of which training route they take.
We know training to teach can seem daunting but we will be with you every step of the way.
