Vacancies and Volunteering

Would you like to join our team?

All current vacancies are listed on The Good Shepherd Trust website, which can be found here.

Would you like to volunteer?

To let us know that you are interested in volunteering to support learning in our school, please contact the school office on 01306 881136.

Every regular volunteer will require a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, to ensure proper safeguarding of our children and an induction session, including safeguarding training, will be held to support everyone to make their role a success.

If you are interested in volunteering you will need to complete and return the following forms to the school office.

If you were unable to attend our Volunteering Workshop, or wish to refer back to the presentations, they can be viewed here Volunteering at Surrey Hills and Safeguarding Induction PowerPoint.

Thank you for all your support!

DBS Filtering Rule

All employees and volunteers in regulated activity, will require an enhanced DBS check. This is completed by the school, prior to appointment. From 28 November 2020, the filtering rules for Standard and Enhanced DBS checks changed. These changes are the result of a Supreme Court Judgment which identified that some elements of the existing filtering rules were disproportionate. Legislation has been changed, and from 28 November 2020, DBS certificates will disclose criminal records according to this new legislation.

This means that the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) will no longer disclose youth reprimands, youth warnings, or youth cautions. They will also no longer automatically disclose all convictions where an individual has more than one conviction – instead, each individual conviction will be assessed against the appropriate rules.

Further information can be found here.

Candidates and employees can obtain independent advice on this matter from organisations such as Unlock and NACRO.
